The Hugo Awards
The Hugo Awards are awards for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy. They were first awarded in 1953, and have been awarded every year since 1955. The awards are run by and voted on by fans. The Hugo Awards are awarded each year at the World Science Fiction Convention.

For the 2010 Hugo Awards, members of Aussiecon 4 (who join by 31st January 2010) and members of the 2009 Worldcon Anticipation, can nominate up to five people or works from the previous calendar year (2009) in various categories. The list of categories is defined in Article 3 of the WSFS Constitution here: http://www.wsfs.org/bm/const-2009.htm Note that the committee of Aussiecon 4 have decided not to create a special Hugo category in 2010, as permitted in the WSFS constitution.

Once the list of nominees is finalised, only members of Aussiecon 4 can vote to decide which will win the award.
